Luise von Blanckenburg (1805–1858)Ernst Ludwig von Gerlach1828, Berlinin the family tree

Ernst Ludwig's second marriage, childless. Luise and Pauline were sisters, daughters of Henning Dionysius Ludwig von Blanckenburg (1764–1813) – two Blanckenburg sisters married two Gerlach brothers.

Pauline von Blanckenburg (1804–1887)Karl Friedrich Otto von Gerlach (1801–1849)1835in the family tree

An old noble family of the Mark, attested in Mecklenburg since 1173 and in Pomerania since 1253 (Anselm von Blankenborch). Their nephew Moritz von Blanckenburg (1815–1888), lord of Zimmerhausen, a childhood friend of Bismarck's and a conservative parliamentary leader, was thus a nephew of Ernst Ludwig's. The double connection – two sisters marrying two brothers – makes this alliance especially close.
