Henrietta Theodora was a daughter of Carl Heinrich von Gerlach and Charlotte Wilhelmine von Beyme, hence a granddaughter of the minister of state. Her husband was born on 19 October 1811 at Klücken and died on 1 February 1864 at Schöneiche. Three children are documented: August Friedrich Arthur, born 1840 at Klücken, died 1886 at Badenweiler; Adelheid Luise Charlotte, born 1842 at Wissulke, who married Georg von Hardenberg in 1863; Anna Marie Wilhelmine, born 1852, likewise at Wissulke.
The name misleads easily, for two separate houses of ancient nobility bear it. The Pomeranian ones are known from their arms as the Fish Plötz; they appear in 1271 with dominus Hermannus de Plocech and sat in the districts of Cammin and Greifenberg. The East March ones bear a swan and are known accordingly as the Swan Plötz. Klücken and Wissulke as the birthplaces of the children and Schöneiche as the place where the father died assign the line married here to the Neumark, that is, to the Swan Plötz. Their arms show on blue a silver swan above two gold stars, on the helm three feathers, the mantling blue and silver. The spelling wavers between Plötz, Ploetz and Plotze.
