A Hanseatic merchant and banking family from Hamburg, raised to the baronage in the 19th century; the London bank J. Henry Schröder grew out of it. This marriage brought together the Pomeranian landed nobility and the Hanseatic merchant and banking bourgeoisie. Tessen von Gerlach-Parsow was a son of Carl August von Gerlach-Parsow (1883–1945) and Ruth von Bonin. The arms are those in bronze above the portal of the Schröder mausoleum at Ohlsdorf cemetery in Hamburg; the motto reads "Vincet veritas".
